Every couple of months I check on the app to see if it usable and it is always in the same status…player is unusable. Video pauses every two seconds for a millisecond (enough to annoy the hell out of you) and the audio is always out of sync. I’ve tried it on at least half a dozen different computers and all the same issue. Isn’t a connection issue because acts exactly the same way with locally synced/downloaded content. While the moderators on the forum here are on top of everything, it seems none of the developers on any of the platforms seem to have a clue on how to fix anything in less than five years.
We get it. You’re angry. However, it’s not Plex for Windows. As much as I think PMP is superior software, basic playing works fine. I stream high bitrate HD video across Wi-Fi even in Plex player and I don’t have the issues that you’re describing.
Is there something unique about your hardware? Is it a setting? If it does it with locally synced content than I don’t see how it could be a transcoding issue. Does it do the same thing in the Plex web player? Are there issues with the files you’ve tried?
I’m not trying to be a wiseguy, but I don’t think what you’re experiencing is typical.
Like I said, it’s on about six different computers I’ve tried on so, so many different video files that play fine on iOS, Android, Web, PMP, etc. I’d just go full ETC but it doesn’t support download/sync.
It isn’t.
And without any logs, it will be impossible to determine where the problem might be.

Cool. I’ll add looks when I get home. Figured it was there Norm from taking to others I know that use it. Thanks.
When you post your logs, please include:
- PMS version installed and on what platform.
- OS version and hardware specs Plex player is installed on.
I am using the Plex for Windows app Version 1.6.3.1009-57cf57c8
Again, when playing any video (streamed or locally synced) the video has an issue caused by a combination of a low frame rate combined with a slight pause ever 2-5 seconds. Same videos played on the same network have been tested by streaming and playing locally on Android, iOS, and Xbox. No issues on any of those. Exact same videos all experience the same issue using the Plex for Windows app on 2 desktops and a Surface Book 2 with the graphics base.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-03-20_18-48-15.zip (5.8 MB)
Do you have:
from the same time period?

Thanks @darcilicious for your help! ![]()
Hi @missionsparta that’s a really interesting issue; particularly the reproducibility across all your Windows devices. FWIW this isn’t playback behavior we normally hear.
- What are the Window’s version numbers?
- Please repro the issue then forward your Plex for Windows logs. The PMS logs are helpful but the player logs are going to be more of a gold mine.
- Please include XML information for affected video(s). [1]
- I’ll try to do better than 5 years…

Ok. I will do that later tonight and answer your other questions. But I just wanted to add that at least on the Surface Book, the same videos play perfectly fine with the PMP. Id just use that full blown but there is no sync option for it, and I take my Surface Book all the time when traveling and often don’t have access to a internet connection. Still not fully sure why they don’t add the few missing features and just get rid of Plex for Windows, but im sure there is an obvious reason I am missing. Thanks again.
Also (for later), have you changed any of the Plex Media Player cache configuration on your Surface Book?
No, sir
Ok. I may have solved it on my own. I have a NVidia card on each of these computers. I went in and used the NVidia Control Panel Client and changed it from automatically choosing how to handle programs to forcing it to just use the integrated graphics and stopping Nvidia from taking over. That has appeared to fix the player problem. Apparently the Nvidia card and Plex do not appear to be in cooperation with one another. The app itself still runs clunky though. Slow responses to inputs, slow changing of pages, etc. Is this normal right now and just need to wait for an update or is this out of the ordinary?
