Plex freezes after using skip or skip back

While watching Plex from my laptop connected to my TV if I click skip or skip back more than once it tends to freeze with the buffering circle in the middle. This is especially true when I skip back 2 or more times, but also happens about 60% of times when I skip forward. I have to either refresh my browser or click stop and then play to restart the movie and normally picks up from the point I skipped to.

I have a Plex pass and have a server set up on my QNAP NAS server which works great until I try to skip.

Any ideas this can be corrected?

Which client are you using? If you are using a browser then you are taxing the QNAP quite heavily.

Suggest Plex Media Player: Plex Media Player

I was using Google Chrome… I will try it on Plex Media Server and see if it works better.

When I installed Plex Media Server it suggested I install Plex for Windows, is there a difference and if so what is it?

Plex Media Player is a two in one product, it has a Desktop mode that uses keyboard and mouse and a TV mode for 10 ft UI using a remote. Since it supports GPU accelerated h.264 and hevc it can direct play a wider variety of files.

Plex for Mac/Windows is/was being developed to replace PMP but it is lacking some of the direct audio support that HTPC users require. I kinda see how they want to remove the Desktop portion from PMP and just leave the TV mode pushing everyone to P4MW for desktop.
