I have noticed recently that Plex is skipping 5-10 seconds at a time on some tv shows / movies. I can’t say this has never happened before, in fact I am sure it has. However, it is happening much more often lately. This could be the shows / movies I am watching however, it IS a PLEX thing. If I watch the same episodes / movies in VLC the missing parts are played as they should be. There is no skipping at all.
I could name the shows if you need them or upload logs if someone lets me know what logs and how to get them / find them.
I wouldn’t care (as much) except the missing parts of the shows I have been watching all seem to fall on very important dialog that if missed totally changes the feel of the scene and in a couple cases the entire perception of what is going on or about to happen.
Is anyone else noticing this? Like stated before, I know it has happened before because I remember doing the same thing (checking in VLC) and finding PLEX was the issue… however, also as stated earlier, it really does seem to be happening on more shows and movies.
Sorry, should have posted the versions…but I try to always have the latest released version else wouldn’t post a problem.

I am watching on my windows 11 computer simply by clicking the episode / movie and it opens in Chrome. The client version listed in Plex is: Version 4.116.1
Now that you mention it, I’m checking if the issue happens on my phone app… And the answer is NO. It doesn’t happen on the phone (android - 10.7.0.5386 (3680095)
I did not notice this in MS Edge. I turned off my extensions in Chrome (newest version) and it went away. I turned on the extensions again and it didn’t happen. I will keep checking on files I know have/had the issue and I will report back if I find this issue again.
I am also having this issue but not only is it affecting my browser, but my friends AND apple tv/Roku/iOS. It does not affect my shield. This user also stated their android phone was not affected.
Ok. So here is a nice conumdrum for you all. When I tried this in other browsers and situations (see above) it worked fine. 2 Days later it was doing it again on another episode. So I tried the other options. It did it in all those cases (different browser, Chrome with all turned off, etc…) And when I tried the original episodes that were doing it, they then did it again in all cases. This one makes no sense at all.
Thus, I ended up watching the rest of the series in VLC.
Are these high bitrate episodes/movies? That happens for me sometimes when they are high bitrate. It only happens in a browser for playback (when it happens). I get around it by either adjusting the quality to convert automatically (which keeps the same direct play quality but fixes it for some reason), or by switching to the desktop client.
I haven’t seen it yet in tv shows myself(but I mostly just watch on my shield which is unaffected so I wouldn’t) but for the movies, its both high bitrate and low bitrate content. I am seeing the issue on every platform except shield and Windows PC app. Even the android phone and firestick apps are having the issue.
I have also noticed that some movies will skip like this, others will not load at all. Replacing the files did not help.
Edit: I had a few friends tell me it was happening to tv shows too.
