Hello @ChuckPa hope all is well. What happens every morning at 6AM for last couple of weeks, is the instance of PMS on my Mac M4 freezes. Can you tell me if this is database related? I have already ran your repair tool. Thanks.

How big are the database files ? Are they still bloated ?
Should I go back to using the main hard drive for transcoding?
I need more information about the hardware before recommending how best to configure it.
What local (NON-system) drives do you have,
– Are they HDD or SSD,
– What is their capacity and current utilization (GB / TB – however appropriate )

I have multiple hard drives connected to a Mac mini M4 via USB. This just started happening 2 weeks ago. HDD
You are definitely feeling the pinch of growing (We ALL feel it. The bane of media)
This issue aside, I would definitely set a plan to get a NAS
( I use HGST Ultrastar (now WD) and Seagate EXOS – both are Enterprise grade)
When you plan it, get enough slots. You can add drives later but a new chassis is $$$$
For now, I would put the transcoder temp on the “BLK_1” HDD.
Make a “Plex/transcode” folder and use it
Remember, even on HDD, even over the network, it’s going to write to the HDD faster than it will need it for playback.
Re this issue, Moving the transcoder temp will give it more room to do what it needs and not “clog up” the other drives.
It’s my hope we’ll see what, if any, other issue is lurking underneath.

No more freezing. Took your advice on the transcoding. Thanks for your help. About to get rid of all of theses drives and have 2 additional DAS 80TB each.
