I have a show named Sailor Moon which was a Japanese show and when it was brought to North America was dubbed in english and names were changed for all episodes. for example:
episode 1 season 1 in Japanese was named The Crybaby: Usagi’s Beautiful Transformation
same show was renamed in english version as A Moon Star Is Born
I own the english version yet plex uses it Japanese name for my episodes. is there a way to use the english version? see pics

Thank you. I was so excited when option 1 seemed to work. Unfortunately only season 1 was corrected. season 2 stated naming out of order then went to generic naming process of “episode 44, 45, 46…” see pics.
my files are mkv would option 2 work for them? If so how do I I go about putting preferred title into the files’ embedded metadata. Regardless I would like to know how to do this as it would be useful in future,

no… embedded metadata only works with MP4/M4V.
before you go there… the reason Plex reverts to generic naming after S02E43 is that according to The Movie Database, Season 2 ends with that episode. The subsequent episodes should be part of season 3, I suppose.
so you have to decide if you want to adjust your episode structure to meet the structure of The Movie Database or to stick with the current approach and The TVDB agent. If you’re willing to spend some extra work you could manually re-name the episode titles according to the US releases.
We’ve told him his naming is wrong about a hundred times, but it never sinks in.
He’s even using Filebot and posted these images many times as well - but pictures, nor 10 thousand words - make any difference what-so-ever:

JuiceWSA getting ornery XD . anyways these files are in their correct order according to the movie database. I Get what you are saying in regards to the strict naming policies of plex, but when this show was dropped into filebot season 3, 4, 5 are completely wrong and has Nothing to do with my naming criteria it seems the movie database organised season 1 and 2 by their American titles then for for season 3, 4, 5 switched to using the Japanese names I was using the movie database as the plex naming source that is why they were off.
It would be nice and more precise if both Filebot and Plex would use the actual name of the episodes when organizing matches and not the numbering which are almost always off in some way shape or form no matter where you get them from.
thanks tom80H I was able to fix season 2 I just noticed that S02E43 is actually S02E03. the 43 was referring to the 43rd episode of the show. For JuiceWSA’s information I did NOT name these episode they came like that.
