I am a Plex user since many years and the purchase of the Plex Pass for me was a contribution to the project.
I do understand that most of you are not directly involved in the Plex Smart TV app for LG/Samsung TVs. At the same time I hope that you can make an internal connection to a person who can start looking on the speed problems with the app and provide us (the Plex user) with prompt updates.
I have to be honest here… I do follow the Plex forum rules and my tone is constructive on 100% but I am running out of patience. Switching gears won’t help anyone and I am doing my best to keep my language level, but I hope that you would understand that we need some actions here.
Do we have any updates from the Plex team regarding the issues with the lagging/skipping issues for Live TV? I usually watch on my Roku or Xbox but I’m using my LG TV today and it’s an awful playback experience. I’m hoping there’s an update soon because I can’t imagine folks who only have LG having to deal with this.
I gave up on my Samsung TV because Plex is so slow and got an Amazon FireTV Stick for it, where the performance is what you’d expect.
I also have a LG TV where the Plex performance is also abysmal, I’m thinking of doing the same for that too. It’s not quite so bad on the LG, though trying to use the Plex search is screamingly awful.
EDIT: I’ve only found that the UI’s performance is poor, not the playback.
This is it, it’s the UI not the playback experience for me. Would love a ‘Lite’ UI setting for older TV’s or any that struggle with all the fancy stuff.
What drives me crazy is that Plex keeps sending us high-quality newsletters with tons of great news about this or that content and new options that are offered to us, and at the same time they are not able to take care of the basics - to make the app to consume all that content to be decently written. I’m not talking about some exotic things, it’s about two of the most popular TV brands, Samsung and LG! Does the whole Plex team really have no power to write those two apps so that they are fast enough and pleasant to use?
Wholeheartedly agree. We don’t ALL want to buy and maintain an Nvidia Shield or Apple TV box! Keep it simple for those family members who don’t need to know how to use ‘media players’ but can handle a TV app.
