Plex Guide and HDHomeRun Guide

I currently have HDHomeRun Flex Tuner and paid I think it was $35 for a 1 year subscription.
I also paid for the PLEX Pass forever.

So, i can see the guide and watch live tv on both the HDHomeRun app and on the PLEX app.
The PLEX apps gets all my channels on my HDHomeRun.

My question is: if I stop the subscription from HDHomeRun, I know on their app I will only get like a 24 hour guide and I will not be able to record on their app or hardware,
but will I still be able to see the full guide of the HDHomeRun channels on the PLEX app or will I only see 24 hours or lose it all together?

You will still be able to see the full guide in Plex (you do need to maintain your Plex Pass to be able to record - not an issue for you since your Plex Pass is lifetime.) Plex gets it’s EPG data from Gracenote - not the HDHR. I’ve had an HDHR Extend for about 3 years, have never had any subscription with HDHR, and typically get about two weeks of EPG data in Plex.

Thank you so much for such a quick response and understanding what I was asking. I’ve canceled the HDHomeRun subscription from renewing in 8 months. I’m new to all this, I spent much time trying to figure out all the different ways to get TV and record it, and I thought I made the right pick with buying the HDHomeRun FLEX 4 tuner and then buy the PLEX PASS. My first misunderstanding was I thought I could record on a hard drive plugged into the HDHomeRun without paying them a subscription. I thought their $35 a yr was just for the extended guide. I am using PLEX for my own movies and the ability to watch them and the HDHomeRun when I’m away from home, but I wanted to do the actual TV recording on a hard drive plugged directly into the HDHomeRun, so I was force to buy their Subscription. Then now 4 months later, a few days ago the HomeRun had an update and it stopped it from being able to read my hard drive. If the hard drive is plugged in it will stop the HDHomeRun from working at all, it will say “tuner can’t be found”. For days I tried to do anything and everything to figure it out, and the so called “Techs” on the HDHomeRun website are really terrible people and no help at all, they first wouldn’t even admit there was an update, then they blame my hard drive. My drive works on everything else, just not the HDHomeRun. So I’m getting really fed up with the HDHomeRun company and trying to figure out how to go on with using them as little as possible if not shoot their thing in the trash one day. I see on the internet others have the same types of issues with the last update. So far I’ve only been happy with what PLEX has to offer and help me watch tv and movies on.

I’m assuming this is a USB hard drive? I don’t know your setup, but there is a good probability you can plug it in to the computer you are using as your Plex server and use it to store recording being made from Plex.

I don’t know what file system your HDHR uses or what OS your Plex server is. The drive might work immediately, or you may need to reformat it.

UPDATE: Tonight 10/31/22 I got an email from the HDHR with an update (20221031) to fix their error on their last update (20221023) a few days ago. And I did the update and my hard drive is back up and working on the HDHR. Can’t believe up till now they were trying to blame me saying “MY” drive had failed. I told them it wasn’t MY drive, and that I had plugged it into my PC and recorded on it with PLEX with NO issues. So I’m all set now being able to record on both options. But thanks again for all the help.
