Plex hardware transcoding intermittently working

Plex hardware transcoding is intermittently working with my Nvidia Quadro P400 (it used to work fine until recently). My setup is a VMware host passing through the graphics card to an Ubuntu 22.04 virtual machine, with Plex running as a docker container. My Nvidia driver version is 550.

I tested different streaming qualities via Plex web, and some streams hardware transcoded, and others didn’t. Using nvidia-smi, I see the process start, but then drop when hardware transcoding fails. I have looked through the Plex Media Server.log (3.1 MB), but unable to make sense of it.

Please can someone help?
