I created a Plex Home user for my wife and she was marking movies as watched from my server and they weren’t syncing as watched on her watchlist. Is this is intended functionality or is there a setting somewhere I need to click for Watchlists to sync for my Plex Home Users?
It’s worth mentioning, if she watches a movie on her account it will sync with the Watchlist, it’s only not syncing if you click Mark as Watched from the info screen or the popup/popdown when you click the 3 dots. She has to physically watch it in order for the sync to happen automatically.
I’ve got exactly the same problem. My “not so young” father-in-law is using Plex (Managed User), and as such I access his Watchlist to add in new shows/films for him to watch.
Sometimes they auto remove from his Watchlist, once watched, other times, nope!! And I have no clear way of seeing/filtering what’s watched or not, from his Watchlist!
It just seems crazy that is sooooo flaky!
@gibit how have you gotten on with all of this? Did you find anything to fix this?
I’m hoping a someone from Plex sees this and can shed some list!??
Essentially, if you mark was watched manually, it isn’t treated as “actually watched”, it just removes the watched status without creating a historical entry for it unless you actually watch it through. Personally I like that change but it could throw off other things like trying to clear a watch list just by marking it as watched - you’d have to click “remove from watchlist” instead now.
The way I got around this was to create a Plex account for my daughter with a gmail account, You can add them to your Plex Home and can login/switch to their profile just like a managed user. Now their sync and watchlist all work fine, I also made them my friends so I can see her activity. You just have to setup restrictions based on TV or Movie ratings and can’t just set the profile as Younger Kid or whatever
