Bump on ask - in particular #1: " 1. So glad to see the Live TV Guide finally. But I wonder how to record a show in progress? Or quickly go forward a few days in the guide? Also, where is the DVR Schedule?"
RECORDING: Is there a keyboard shortcut to record? I’m even struggling to find how to record anything when in the LiveTV Guide mode and scrolling through when in “Guide” mode but I don’t see the option in “What’s on” or “Browse” either (and have tried every key on the keyboard).
… on the old Plex Media Player in when in Desktop layout, there’s a record option:
I’ve been using the beta of the Samsung Tizen and XBox clients for the last year and having the TV guide has been great but whilst these clients were in preview I was able to opt out and switch back to the previous version where this functionality was present.
As those clients have now been released, this is no longer possible and as you noted this functionality is missing in all clients that share this code base now.
I raised the issue back in April, after the Tizen client came out of preview, but unfortunately there hasn’t been any feedback
I’m really missing this functionality myself and look forward to it making a re-appearance.
Three other questions as I’ve started playing around with this more:
So is the only way to record a show/series to go back to the web interface (i.e. - http://localhost:32400/web), use the mouse and mouse over the show and record? i.e.:
Additionally, via Plex HTPC - how do you start to watch a current recording - TimeShifting basically? Often want to wait a few hours after say an NBA/NFL game starts so there’s enough cache to skip through commercials. However, the show doesn’t appear in my “Live TV Recordings” folder until the recording is 100% done (it appears) - and I add a 40-60 min buffer, in case the sporting event goes into overtime. Thus it’s happend multiple times now that I’m trying to watch a recording after it’s dissapeared from the Guide (can’t go backwards in time in the Guide that I can see) but before it appears in my recordings.
I been poking around on my Windows HTPC Server and see there’s a “grab” folder that holds the active recordings - so is there a way to publish/show those active recordings in Plex HTPC?
You should be able to use the guide in Plex HTPC to record a programme, series or movie. If you’re using a keyboard with Plex HTPC you can navigate the guide with the arrow keys and use enter to record the showing. Sorry I don’t have a remote on my HTPC machine at the moment.
It seems so yes - well until this functionality makes it into the Samsung Tizen, XBox, Plex HTPC (and presumably: LG, Playstatation, etc…) code base
I’ve not tried it with Plex HTPC explicitly yet but with the Tizen/XBox apps, if memory serves me correctly, will ask you if you want to start watching the programme from the beginning if you try and watch a programme that you are already recording, from the guide.
Hmm…when I playback time shifted files from my ChannelsDVR server/recorder, Plex isn’t smart enough to adjust the original remaining time of the recording, and stops dead at the length when it was added.
What is the name of a player function that allows for playback, while the file is still being recorded, and is smart enough to re-adjust the remaining time, to compensate for the additional time being recorded?
The Channels DVR web player is able to handle the time shifted files correctly, but it has other issues like limited keyboard shortcuts and is more buggy than the Plex players.
Wanted to report an issue, searched through this thread and couldnt find a solution.
Plex HTPC app does not always seem to stay in sync with my server. When new files are added, they dont automatically show up in Plex HTPC, although they do show up in Plex web.
The only way I can get the newly added files to show up is to exit the app, and re-launch it. Is there a setting somewhere where i can increase the interval in which it checks for new files?

I’m having similar issues with the Samsung Tizen app - I tend to notice issues first with this client as it is my everyday 10" UI client, however, the problem does seem to be a little intermittent. For example:
I just launched the Windows, HTPC and Tizen clients and updated the poster for a movie from Plex for Windows but all was good.
Hi. I have an issue with Sync Refresh Rate tick box in the settings. If I have this ticked true, no sound gets passed thru to the receiver. Actually no sound plays at all. If I untick this, sound gets passed thru perfectly, but obviously the refresh rate isn’t sync’d.
Ah! I just tried out Plex HTPC and this lack stood out to me.
Just to check I’m not missing anything – is there an alternative way beyond hitting ArrowLeft/ArrowRight multiple times, or keeping those keys pressed? (Other than using chapters, for media that has it.)
Recently installed the plex HTPC 1.3.1 on my Mac mini late 2014 and like what I see. Really glad plex is back in the dedicated HTPC app. Two things I have notice that don’t seem to work quite right. First, I can’t resume a movie or anything else if I pause it. This only happens if I quit watching the movie, and then come back later to resume watching it: it just sits in the image of the last frame no matter how many times I hit pause/play. I can get around this if I skip ahead and then skip back. The second thing is that the screen saver will come on while a movie is playing so I had to turn that off for now. Otherwise, it seems to be working quite well: thank you plex team!!
Would like to ask the devs to add better support for bluetooth playback!
I like to use my airpod pros to watch at night and it’s not as seamless as using the Apple TV 4K. Audio is severely out of sync and having to adjust that each time is a bit frustrating.
All of a sudden i seem to be getting this popup playing just about anything, very odd
Have power cycled everything. WOrks for one play, but after that - any show or movie will produce this. HTPC plex client only (other clients work ok), happens on numerous win10 machines. No recent updates of note.
Anyone else?
1.3.1
EDIT / UPDATE : Bouncing PMS seems to have resolved. Odd.
