It started just recently, unfortunately, I don´t have a precise Plex HTPC version, but on version 1.47.1 I know for sure it was visible.
Sometimes when Plex HTPC is opened and you navigate through the UI, you see a visible “flashing/reloading” of the cover artwork. (Coverart shown - grey - Coverart shown) When selecting the next item, the artwork also flashes/reloads. I´m not calling it “refreshing” as the cover art stays the same and it’s not the same as when the artwork is really changed. It’s just a small switch to grey and then back to the artwork. This only happens for maybe 5 or 6 items you select (but not specific items - any item selected does this) then when you select the next item it’s not happening.
It’s also not happening every time you open Plex HTPC. I will try to gather a screen capture (probably next weekend) and the logs.
I can’t comment on the Nvidia but AMD currently have issues with display flash and blank screen and even frozen screen with last couple of GPU drivers.
I played a lot of material since my post and have not had any issues.
480p through to 4k, with various audio codecs.
My Plex HTPC settings for GUI display are default. Latest GPU and Chipset drivers.
My two displays are both Samsungs, one an ageing NU8000 and the other an OLED.
Both are fed RGB 8 bit via HDMI through Denon AVR’s. I have switched back to YCbCr too many times and have settled on RGB as HDMI 2.0b seems to handle RGB and refresh rate switching better. I kept getting no signal with YCbCr with refresh rate switching selected.
Hmm maybe a cache issue? I’m on MacOS but sometimes when I clear the Plex caches the artwork will “flash” or “pop in” upon relaunching. However yours seems to be stuck in some kind of loop. Not very windows savvy but have you tried reinstalling HTPC and clearing the cache? Or maybe try an older version of the app? Very strange.
yeah, something like this… Although after scrolling through 5 or 6 items the next one is not doing this - no reloading. It also seems to only really happen when the app is in fullscreen mode. I will try deleting the cache, maybe that helps.
++++
Now, when existing a movie the cast row is not present anymore. You have to get out of the movie overview screen and click on the movie again… then its back.
This issue is also independent on resolution or refreshrate switching state, on my remote machine, the issue is also present (it has these options turned off.)
I´m not sure, what exactly you are referring to. Yes my Plex HTPC install is indeed custom, however only the mpv.dll is changed, no other change. This should - in theory - not have any effect on the GUI behavior.
Everything else works fine, resolution/refresh rate/hdr/metadata/passthrough, etc. works perfectly. On my remote machine, I only have it disabled, as I don’t need these features. But! the GUI issue is also present there. So maybe my response above was a bit misleading, my bad, sorry.
The other issue with the flashing/reloading has vanished somehow. (well, it became less)
But for reference: You are also having the Gui issue with the cast not showing up after playback?
I indeed missed the comma. lol. You are running the latest version?
Interesting though that @MrFancyPants1999 is also seeing the issue - so there is something going on there.
