Just wanted to say I really like the new web interface. Going to take a few uses to get used to it but it’s really nice.
I especially like having the cast for TV Shows which has been a request for a while! After seeing the cast in the new DVR section I was hoping this would come to the regular TV Shows section as well!
PS We still need the ability to EDIT cast for both movies and shows. This has also been requested numerous times over the years!

Having said that, I noticed that the release notes mention better filtering but I can’t for the life of me figure out where I do that now. What am I missing?

Go into a Library, like Movies, then click on All then on Custom Filter at the bottom of the list
Yea, that got me at first also. Go into a TV Show or Movies section.
Up top you’ll see the bread crumb listing start with “ALL”. select it and it will drop down with many choices.

Does anyone know if the “Episode Plays” item is total plays (all users) or just for the currently logged in user?

This needs a server version of 1.4.2 or later, btw.
The functionality is not yet available in the hardware transcoder preview builds.
Well you get some filtering but not the custom filtering on the HW encoding version of the server. I’m glad I’ve got one of each server running to play.
Well I mucked around a bit with it and I have, after some struggle, figured how to do the things that I use the web interface mostly for like retagging a group of movies or removing garbage tags from a group. It took some time to figure out and I have found a bit more inconvenient as you have to move the mouse further to click the edit button after selecting several shows/movies. But it is usable.
But the bottom line is I, at this time, don’t like it but I will learn to live with it and use it.
What I don’t like is change for the sake of change. This appears to be one of those cases where an interfaced is changed just because it could be changed and no real functionality has been added or improved.
But, as I said, I will learn to use it as well as I used the old one.
That is not to say there should not be improvements but the saying. “Just because we can does not necessarily mean we should” should be applied every time change is considered for a well functioning interface.

Is there a way to refresh individual libraries? I used to be able to go into TV Shows, for example, and push the little refresh icon to just refresh the TV Shows library. Now, the only refresh option I can find is on the Home page and it’s a Refresh All option, which goes through my thousands of Music files and takes forever. I just want to be able to quickly refresh a single library when new media is added (because the automatic refresh option is so inconsistent).

Those are not functionality they are cosmetic changes and for me very unimportant ones. I have the right to state my dislikes and the reasons thereof just as much as you have the right to state your likes.
As far as being happy. I am very happy with my life I just do not like seeing a great product becoming more and more fluff while parts of the core functionality remain unfinished.
@CzarCastic I think you should be able to select the elipsis on the individual library to start a refresh of that library (it may be labeled as refresh all)
you have to move the mouse further to click the edit button after selecting several shows/movies.
Just a tip, you can press the “e” key after selecting items to edit them. You can press “p” to play them. This also works on the pre-play page without a selection.
Maybe it’s time to implement these requests that have been ignored for years.

I certainly think the filtering could be improved. Seems to me it was more discoverable before. Perhaps we need a filter icon on the right by the shuffle?
I was hoping to use the improved filtering to set up more fine grained optimization lists but that doesn’t seem to be possible yet.
I also think we need to move the “moods” filter into the filter interface and not into it’s own screen. It feels a little disjointed at the moment (but maybe that’s just me).
As to the new interface, I like the improvements. I like that I can see ratings and cast information now. Very slick. I’d like filters to be a little better but that can come with time.

Even though it has a few flaws that should be worked out.
One issue I see is the background images that get cut off.
With the new version the background image is just a blur for me now (left side). In the old version I can see the background just fine (right side). If I enable the new Artwork Mode the image is shown at the top. Anyone else seeing this?

Once you have the filter the way you want it click on the ... in the upper right corner and select Optimize
I am hating this new smokey blur look, how do I change it back?
