Playback Error [existsOrThrow] Value is undefined or null!

This error happens when I want to continue watching remaining episodes from the Home screen. The full error message in Plex HTPC is:
Playback Error [existsOrThrow] Value is undefined or null!

Shutting down the Plex HTPC software and starting it again fixes the issue, but I would like to be able to continue watching the episodes from the Home screen without restarting Plex HTPC.

Anyone else has this strange issue?

Unfortunately, this has never been resolved nor addressed by any means. I also opened a topic regarding this issues. Well, I assume it is related to this error message as it appears very seldom. Usually it just sort of freezes as I described here:

As described in my post above, I can no longer use Plex HTPC after version 1.43.1.3911.

Plex keeps giving a playback error [existsOrThrow} value is undefined or null

I recently bought a Samsung Freestyle projector , after updating my Plex server on my synology disk station, i now get an error when playing a playlist on repeat. After playing all the videos, instead of starting again, i get this error; playback error [existsOrThrow} value is undefined or null

I am currently using Plex for Windows because of this (and none of my other devices or players have this issue BTW) but I hope this gets addressed soon. If a dev needs more info, then please step in and tell us what you need. Thanks.

Wow… this takes me back to a different time. That was some erratic behavior for me back in September. It showed up a couple of times after but I haven’t experienced it since or heard any of my library users mention it. I don’t know if it was fixed or if whatever weird circumstances were causing it haven’t happened for a while.

I also very occasionally get this [existsOrThrow] error. Never during active use, such as playing one show after ending another. Only when the client is left idle for a while (12+ hours) and then returned to. The client always comes back normally after it’s closed and started again. But the error is not very wife/kid friendly, since I leave Plex HTPC running as the sole 10-foot interface on my TV.

I have things set up as a Plex Home, with one admin and two Managed accounts. The error occurs on both account types. Not frequently, but just enough that I notice it every once in a while.

I just had an [existsOrThrow] error and had a minute to grab the log. As usual, this error occurred after the computer had been asleep for about 18 hours. After waking up, I couldn’t play anything. In the log, you’ll see two different errors, which are the result of me trying to play something a few times. Quitting and restarting Plex HTPC immediately fixed the problem.

Also seeing this problem on a TV platform sounds like this must be an issue with the “web-client” part of the app and not a bug on the framework (=QT for the desktop apps) used.

This line bugs me the most. Something is going on there… Without a playable URL, it’s obviously failing.

Maybe someone from the client-ui-part can acknowledge this?

I can fix it with watching 10-15 secs of another episode and jump back to the previous episode, but a really annoying hotfix to do.

I also intermittently get this issue on Plex HTPC for Windows. It has always occurred for me after trying to play a video after resuming from sleep. I have to restart Plex HTPC to resolve it. Not sure if it’s related but the same scenario (use after resume from sleep) also sometimes causes a problem where the UI breaks and constantly shows the page of the last show looked at (but unable to select anything to play) - the UI is not frozen and I can navigate through the menu but the main view won’t change when selecting the basic pages (Discovery, Movies etc.) – only if navigating to something like “Settings.” A restart fixes this as well.

Exactly the same for me (always happens after resuming from sleep, see my log above). It would be really wonderful is someone from Plex could comment on this. Just to let us know if it’s being looked at, or if more logs are needed to debug it.
