Please consider repackaging the Plex HTPC package as a Flatpak and distributing on FlatHub so that it is easily installed from Discover on the Steam Deck. I would like to be able to use Plex on the steam deck officially and conveniently.
To expand on that, we see that the tide has really turned around snaps vs flatpaks. I still stand by what I wrote above, but today it looks like snaps are not portable linux packages, they are portable ubuntu packages (still a huge win for an application like Plex Desktop / HTPC). However, we talked about looking into flatpaks soon (no ETA at this point and this is not a promise).
For anyone stumbling on this topic later: both Plex HTPC and Plex for Linux are now available on flathub. Steam Deck is not yet officially supported, although some users are having success with installing the flatpaks on it.
It runs fine on the Steam Deck except that the aspect ratio is wrong and the controller-style controls only work for a few seconds after Steam+D-Pad Left (ESC)
There are varying reports of success and failures, likely stemming from the fact that some users run it in desktop mode, others run it under gamescope. We also don’t have a working input map yet (though the fix is simple and can be worked around via SteamOS input mapping).
