Tuner verified receiving ATSC channels with WinTV 10. I can find 2 driver versions: (6.0.119) 34217 and 39299, neither making a difference. Tried with and without WinTV 10. A lot of restarts, not a lot of results. Not finding any similar forum posts. Any further troubleshooting tips or education would be appreciated!
If the time zone and language are both set to the right country I would uninstall and reinstall the drivers. You are a few versions behind on the server and there was a problem with the Plex Tuner Service which the USB tuner needs to function correctly. Use the Plex for Windows app or https://app.plex.tv/web when setting up the tuner, the bundled web app is not as up to date and is missing some changes required for the DVR setup.
Time zone and language in Windows or Plex? Yes to the former, I can’t find the latter.
Updated Plex server to 1.28.1.6104 and the tuner now shows up as a cable tuner (drop down to change it is still grayed out as previously pictured).
Got a fresh driver file from HAU site, it installed the 34217 driver from 2016 again. No change with Plex identification. Windows Update to 39299 from 2021, still no change with how Plex identifies it. Found a third driver, 35284 from 2017; still showing as a cable tuner. Restarts between each and active driver version verified through device manager.
Have been accessing through web, have now tried the Windows app (no change) and the bundled web app (for fun… no change).
WIN+i Time & Language → Language & Region should give you the info.
Is it not letting you enter your zip code?
Go back to the first driver. Really sounds like you got a UK version of the device. What is it identified as now? I recommend an HDHomerun, network based but you don’t have to worry about drivers.
I can enter my zip code, but [when it was identified as an antenna tuner] it would go to the second screenshot, only giving me European options anyway. Now [as a cable tuner] it goes to the attached screen after hitting Next. ‘Scan Channels’ does nothing.
It really does feel like an incorrect device was shipped, except that it works perfectly through WinTV 10, so the issue lies within/between Plex/and the device.
To confirm, all 3 drivers don’t change how Plex identifies the device, but updating the server version did change the identity of the tuner from ‘antenna’ to ‘cable’ (an incorrect change), also pictured.
Plex did have a problem with the “Plex Tuner Service.exe” that you corrected with the PMS upgrade. There is nothing that can be done if the Device identifies itself to Plex incorrectly.
After you clear and install if you still have a problem grab the logs after you try to setup the DVR: Server Settings → Troubleshooting > Download Logs. Drag and drop them in a reply here.
