@Volts: Interesting point about the “unexpected” directory depth. I broke the movies out into alpha subdirs when I noticed them taking a long time to load/list in Windows from the SMB server, and Plex has not (until today) struggled with this.
Since the new Movie agent is rumoured to fix this, I will wait till that hits the mainstream & try it out. Till then I have my “_” workaround, so I am good. Will grab popcorn & watch out for any further discussion here.
Check out the Note for DirectoryCacheLifetime. Lots of folks were affected by this. Some found relief by setting DirectoryCacheLifetime to 0. I haven’t tested again since 1809.
All in all i think it would be good for the plex developers to have a look a this. I’m sure they would relish an opportunity to make their product even better.
I think they have - the new scanner & agent. It’s WAY faster and I found matching to be more accurate. Now’s the ideal time to test it and give feedback.
The new agent is included with the latest (Plex Pass) beta release. The announcement I linked to above describes how to migrate to the new agent.
You can change your server settings to use the Beta channel under Settings → General (Show Advanced) → Server Update Channel. Change that, then check for updates.
Updated to Version 1.20.0.3181
Unfortunately the problem persists. Is there something else i need to do?
Sorry, upgrading movie folder now. I’ll post the results when it’s finished.
