Pardon me for opening yet another thread. I asked this before and got what seemed to be some really good guidance, but then life got in the way and I never got around to it. Now I’m trying and I don’t understand some of the details within the guidance and that thread has since been closed. So a new thread it is…
When it says to “(On DSM) Create a shared folder named Plex (case sensitive)”…I assume that means from within the Synology control panel
How do I create the subfolders…also from within the control panel or from the Mac Finder screen?
Plex is asking me to “Choose Package”. Since the DS920+ has the Intel Celeron J4125 I assume I choose the generic “Intel” package.
Step 7 in the linked guidance above says to “Manual install that SPK file” with zero guidance on how to do that…
Without understanding the above, the remaining steps may as well be in Klingon.
Thanks in advance for any help this community can provide!
The instructions are written in an obscure dialect of Romulan
You perform all the steps on DSM. You do nothing from your Mac other than to move the file to the “Plex” shared folder after it’s been created in “Control Panel - Shared Folders”
Yes, Intel 64-bit
As you open Package Center, in the upper right corner, you’ll find the “Manual Install” button.
Be advised, since you’re moving from MacOS → Synology, the installation will be two step.
Step 1 gets PMS on DSM
Step 2 is where you will set all the permisssions (as shown in the FAQ) for “PlexMediaServer” to have “Full Control” permissions of all the files and folders you placed in the “Plex” share and then have it Reinstall -pass 2 to import from the Plex shared folder.
