The first thing it asked me to do is install the new server software. During the setup it just sits there saying “initializing”.
Is this a feature of the wildly overpriced lifetime plex pass?

I had a similar issue with Windows 7 awhile back. My issue turned out to be with my Windows registry losing some settings it needed for the installation.

It may be best to post your issue in the section for your operating system, since people there will be most familiar with that operating system and what is required for the PMS install on it.
In order to help, you need to provide more information, like the version of Plex server, the OS you are running, whether the OS is fully patched, what antivirus/antimalware you are running, etc.
Also not sure what you mean about “the first thing it asked me to do is install the new server software.”
For me this ended up being a windows update thing on windows 7. Once I had everything completely up to date then the install worked.
