Plex iOS app does not work connecting to server behind reverse proxy

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364-7000 (Synology)
Player Version#: 8.11.1 (iOS)

So yesterday I decided to put my Plex server behind a reverse proxy running on my Synology DS920+. I created a subdomain https://plex..synology.me with the Let’s Encrypt wildcard certificate from Synology and all is working fine.

In my router I forwarded port 443 to my local Synology IP address.

On the Synology I created the reverse proxy as:

And finally in Plex I disabled remote access (because the connection is now going through the reverse proxy) and set up https://plex..synology.me:433 into the ‘Custom server access URL’s’ field.

This works perfectly when I’m on my LAN, and even outside my LAN when connecting through a web browser like Chrome. However, when I try to connect via the iOS app on my phone when on mobile connection, I cannot get videos to play. It does connect to my Plex server, it loads all the thumbnails etc fine, but videos keep stuck at the loading circle. Back on my LAN everything is fine again with the iOS app.

I feel like I’m missing something here, maybe some proxy rules or something? It seems like the iOS app is connecting differently than the web browser or something…

Anyone?

Ok, the plot thickens… When I use the Infuse app, everything is working great… How?

Someone?

Probably going to require logs to try and determine what is failing

This seems to be the same issue as Cloudflare CDN can work in plex web and desktop. But not in IOS plex player (Cloudflare CDN is also a reverse proxy)
