Plex app and server are installed on my Shield’s internal drive and are listed under system apps. I wanted to move it to my external USB where I have the space to allow it to grow.
Shield won’t let me move the apps.
Any ideas on how I should proceed as I keep running out of internal space.
Thanks.
One option is to turn off thumbnail generation in PMS. This will save space on the internal storage.
If you’ve the 16GB Shield, you can use an external drive to replace the internal storage (You can do this for the 500GB Pro as well, but it doesn’t make much sense). This will move all your apps, etc to the external drive.
You can also move Plex’s database, metadata, etc to an external drive.

I’ve already added a 500gb USB drive. Plex is the only app still installed on my internal and it is taking up so much space I constantly get low storage warnings.
I was thinking I would delete the app and try reinstalling on the external but I noticed that I can’t delete it or move it since it is listed under system apps.
Help please!!
The problem isn’t the size of the app, it is the size of the data used by the app. Move the data to the external drive.
Ok, how do I move the data file to the external drive?
Thanks.
You would need to format your 500gb USB drive as internal storage. Which you really should do.
I already set up the drive as internal storage.
