I still have an 8gb Plex media server file in system apps. How do I get rid of this? My nvidia shield is now starting to not work because it’s nearly full. Can I move the server to adopted storage using developer mode? If I clear data does that lose everything?
Tried moving the server, said not enough space - can anyone help me please?
I’ve now run out of space again on the shield so it’s critically low meaning I’ll soon have little option other than to delete all my Plex data and start from scratch. Is there nothing else I can do?
Have you disabled the feature, as recommended above?
Yes disabled the feature and optimised, restarted PMS, deleted video preview thumbnails. Is there anything else I need to do?
Also sorry I’ve just realised I’m posting on the wrong thread - I’m using shield tv pro 2019 as the server
“Intro markers” and “preview thumbnails” are different settings. Did you disable both?
Yes both
Is there any info I can provide you, like logs?
In this thread they discuss clearing the cache manually - [HELP] Plex running in Nvidia Shield 2017 (Running out of storage)
Is that what I’m meant to do? I.e go into the system apps on the shield, locate PMS and clear cache? Will that just clear the offending files and not my whole PMS library and data?
Sorry, I can’t tell you. I have no experience with the Shield as server.
I have asked internally what to do.
Did you already move the location of your plex data to an external storage medium?
Yes, I moved it to adoptive storage - SSD (as far as I am aware but I’m becoming concerned this isn’t the case)
I assumed I had the same issue described in the thread below. Plex says: PMS DATA storage location is internal (user accessible storage location).
In the shield app storage section it says 8.09gb used in internal shared storage.
I
I’ve checked and PMS shows on the adopted storage and the folder is 1.2gb
I was able to overcome this issue by editing the start-stop.sh file as the following
set Plex Media Server temp directory path for transcodes
export PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_TMPDIR=/tmp
export TMPDIR=$PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_TMPDIR
on my NAS tmp is small, so I assigned it somewhere else with more space, just remember that everytime you update Plex, you have update the start-stop.sh script. The location changes based on your installation.
The other solution is to disable into markers as described already.
Unfortunately this doesn’t apply to the Shield. It doesn’t run on Linux but Android.
As an experiment, possibly an unwise one, I tried freeing up some space and then moving the Plex media server app to adopted storage (in developer mode). It seemed to be trying to do it for about 10-15 minutes and then the screen went black and I had to restart. When I did, the shield was malfunctioning massively so I restarted again. When it came up again it seemed back to normal. And the data hasn’t moved.
This should be fixed according to dev in this thread: [HELP] Plex running in Nvidia Shield 2017 (Running out of storage)
The bug might be fixed but I’ve still got an 8gb data file on internal storage and it seems nobody has a solution for getting rid of it. Therefore I’ll have to wipe my data and set up Plex from scratch.
Download FX File Explorer and try to find the folder that is 8GB. Try deleting the folder on the internal storage individually without wiping out your full database.
