Plex is changing all "Various Artists " to "Big Brother and the Holding Company"

Plex is ignoring all metadata despite the check box I have checked for Prefer Local Metadata

It’s renaming my Various Artists Albums (which are tagged correctly) to “Big Brother and the Holding Company”

When I change the MP3 tags of the file or the album artist in Plex, it always changes back

This is a bug because this never happened before

Have you also verified and set the Album Artist tags? If you did that, you also better stick to these rules: all files must be tagged with an Album Artist tag all files in an album must also be tagged with a track number, on multi-disc releases also with a disc number (different tag!) all files of a particular album must be tagged with the same Album Artist. I have seen a metadata/naming problem in Artist A’s music blow up Artist B by naming it after Artist C.

Plex is extremely fussy about music metadata and if it doesn’t get what it wants, it can throw a fit. Unfortunately the best thing to do is go over everything and make sure that it’s kosher, especially Album Artist.

If you do not have a good tagging tool like mp3tag, now is the time to get acquainted.
