Plex is crashing multiple times a day

Server Version#: 1.23.4.4712
Window Server 2019

I’ve been running plex for several years without an issue but all of a sudden since the last patch my server is crashing multiple times throughout the day and overnight. So much so that the crash uploader is giving me an error because I’m sending too many reports.

I tried installing the current beta version and rolling it back to earlier versions but it didn’t make a difference. I enabled verbose logging and I don’t see any real references to errors beyond what’s noted below.

I’ve tried adjusting my settings based on other posts I’ve seen like disabling hardware acceleration, adjusting my scan frequency, adjusting CPU usage, applied windows updates.

I’m happy to provide logs but I don’t feel comfortable just publicly posting them since they contain emails and IP addresses. I can also provide as many crash dumps as you can handle.

Here’s what I see in Windows Event viewer:

I read that an older version of Plex caused some DB errors and I’m not sure if this is the case with my set up, not sure why all of a sudden things would have started having issues. I have a pretty good backup history so I can try rolling my DB back but I would really like to avoid that if possible. I would just need to know how far to go back.

** Update **
As randomly as my issues started, it has since gone away. Not a single crash in the past 3 days.

Hi there. Did you happen to update to 1.23.4.4775? There was a fix for a specific crash only happening on .4712 that you reported.

I’m still running .4712. I installed the .4775 beta but that still crashed so I ultimately ended up uninstalling Plex and re-installing .4712 and haven’t seen a single crash since.

Isn’t 4712 the one that was causing the crashes? So upgrading then downgrading fixed it?

Yea it was very odd.

These were the steps I took but even still I think I had one more crash and then everything went away.

Started at 4712, Upgraded to 4775, downgraded to 4707 then upgraded back to 4712. Had one crash running 4712 immediately after start up and then not a single crash since.
