Plex is No Longer Playing Secondary Audio Tracks

Hello Everybody!

Im here again to ask for some help, I have been experiencing a particular issue
on my Plex App.

I mainly watch my Plex Content on my Smart TV (It’s a Hisense + Roku)
I have never had any issues and everything played really nice until Today.

Most of my content has a secondary Audio Track, and my Kids love watching Movies, and TV Shows in Spanish, 'cause they are learning the Language.

Since we got the TV and Installed the app, We have been Switvhing from English to Spanish Audio Tracks on all of our Movies without any Issues.

So, since today, The Plex App is not Playing the Spanish or Secondary Audio Track on ANY Movie. It only plays English audio Language.
No matter how many times I Switch the audio Source, Restart the Server on my PC, or turn off / on my TV, I have no luck and Everithing keeps Playing in English.

The only way that I can manage to play my Movies with the Spanish Audio Track is by turning off or Disable the Direct Play on the Settings from the TV App;
the side effect of that method is Losing Video Quality and a Delay on the Audio Playing in the Movie.

By the way… It works Normally if I watch my content on the web-plataform Player on my PC,

I dont know what else to try…

Any Ideas??

We can reproduce this issue here running the 9.2 firmware. It looks as though Roku has removed the ability for developers to choose the audio language (the only way we’ve been able to select the desired audio stream during direct playback). They now require the use of their overlay during playback. That is, start playback, press * to bring up their menu, and then you can change the audio track. It looks as though Roku has decided it will pick the best audio track in the language set on the Roku.

This is definitely not optimal as for a few reasons:

  • The track selection is not sticky, it will reset on the next playback
  • Your stream selection will no longer follow you on other devices
  • We cannot select a track up front

With that said, we will file a ticket with Roku to see if this is the path forward or a possible oversight.
