Hi, running Plex on a 2012R2 machine. Got some media on local drives, some on mounted shares. If I add files to the mounted shares Plex does not add them to the library automatically, I have to use refresh to have Plex find the new stuff. On the local drives it picks up everything as I expect it to. Any ideas?
Shares are on a QNAP NAS, mounted as for example Z: (\NAS\Mediafolder)
Do you mean it doesn’t add them immediately?
That is expected. Plex can monitor a local drive but not a network drive for changes. It will pick them up the next scan it does, depending on your settings for frequency. (I forget what the default is.)
If you waited more than a day and they still weren’t there then something is wrong.

From the Support pages:
** Update my library automatically**
Typically, the most desirable way to keep your Libraries updated is using the Update my library automatically feature. This uses capabilities of the operating system to detect when content has changed and then initiate a Library update. ## Note: In most cases, this should work for content on local filesystems. It will generally not work for network shares mounted via SMB, NFS, AFP, or similar.
Another way around this limitation is If you use some kind of file renamer/organizer (like filebot) you could have that send the library update command to plex anytime it places media in your media folders.
