Plex is not reading my homemade videos

I am using Handbrake to convert my homemade video DVD’s on my MAC however Plex is not reading them. The format I have tried is MKV. I added a library under Other Videos.

Does anyone have any tips on how to convert my homemade video DVD’s so Plex can read them?

Thanks for responding.

I managed to get Plex to read the files when I added .mp4 on the end of each one.
