Plex has been really stingy lately. It has only allowed me to play in SD quality only lately after the last update and my streaming and playback quality is on maximum. Is there anything going wrong? It’s been like this all week now.

If playing remotely, check the settings on the remote devices. Plex clients default to 2 Mbps/720p for remote streaming. The setting must be changed on each individual client. You cannot change it remotely or force it from the server.
Monitor playback via Plex Dashboard .
Does the connection show as Local, Remote, or Indirect? If Indirect, the connection is via Plex Relay, which is limited to 2 Mbps for Plex Pass holders and 1 Mbps for those without a Plex Pass.
It seems like I cannot directly connect to my main server. Both the shield tv and PC are connected via the same server via ethernet. I need to know the settings I need to do on my PC so I can make a direct connection. It used to not do this. Before the last update I was able to connect directly. I’m a Plex pass holder too

Start by rebooting your server machine.
(Switching off and back on is not rebooting!)
Then verify that the network connection is still categorized by Windows as “private”.
