Windows Plex Media Player, cannot choose quality

Server Version#:1.19.4.2935
Player Version#:1.13.0.1275-bbd8d37b

I have used Plex for a long time.
Now as I have moved the server to another IP, I started getting some Quality trouble.
The Plex server is on the same account as before and the same device is streaming.
The internet connection is about the same, however the computer hardware is lowered.

The problem is that now on my windows computer and my LG TV, the quality on the movie is locked on 320P and lower, nothing happens when I press the bottom to try and change this.

The connection might be insecure if this matters. I do not know how to fix this.
However the main problem is not being able to force or even change the qulity to something higher. Does anyone have an idea?

Are your computer and TV local or remote to the Plex server?

During playback, monitor the stream in Plex Dashboard -> Now Playing.

Is the connection local, remote, or indirect?

It shows as indirect

You are connecting via Plex Relay. Your remote access is not working correctly.

See Troubleshooting Remote Access document. Check port forwarding in router and Plex Server remote access settings.

Okay thanks, ill take a look at it tomorrow.

Some additional follow-up.

Plex Relay is used when remote devices cannot make a direct connection to your server. The connection is relayed through a server at Plex. It is limited to 1 Mbps for non-Plex Pass accounts and 2 Mbps for accounts with a Plex Pass. The bandwidth limitation is why your video is transcoded down to 320p. To determine if you are connecting via Plex Relay, monitor the connection in Plex Dashboard -> Now Playing. Plex Relay connections show up as Indirect. Plex Relay can be disabled in Settings -> Server Name -> Network. Uncheck the box for Enable Relay.

Regarding fixing remote access…

You’re using a new system with a new IP address. You’ll need to set up port forwarding in your network to get things working.

Review the Troubleshooting Remote Access article.

Suggest you use the manual port forwarding method. It is more work to set up, but is more reliable.

Leave the system set for port 32400 to begin with. This can be changed later if desired or if 32400 is blocked for some reason.

Port forwarding configuration screens vary by router manufacturer, but they all have the same basic information. Here’s an example from an Asus router:

The Service Name does not matter. It is just a name.
Internal IP Address is the address of the Plex server.
Source IP is left blank, since you will not know the IP address of the remote user (it changes based on location).

You can use the site canyouseeme.org to test connectivity. From a system on the same network as your server, go to the site and change port 80 to your remote access port (ex 32400). It will tell you if it can reach your Plex server.

That should get you started. Write back with questions, issues, etc.

The problem has been solved.

Our own router made the connection indirect. Im not sure if it was because of our own portforwarding when the server was here or what it was.

But the problem got solved by resetting the router and thereby the setting.
