Tuner = hd home run dual
after I ran the channel scan some channels display as “protected” and are grayed out. The same channels and tuner work / display just fine using tvheadend or VLC.
Do I have any options to still enable them?

No. Plex does not read/play DRM’d content.
I understand that Plex will not play drm content . But I don’t think these channels are drm’d as I can access it in others applications like tvheadend , vlc without issue
They are, that is what protected means. Being able to do something and being allowed to do something are two different things. Regardless of however VLC or other apps may do it we do not. and not discussion of how to circumvent it is allowed on these forums.
Hi…I’ve the same problem on a channel (6TER) which is NOT protected on every other basic TV software (like WinTV, PouchinTV, DVBlink…) so clearly Plex DVR has an issue here. In addition, I didn’t have that problem a few month ago. I’v already posted but didn’t receveive an answer.
Whether another given app plays them or not is NOT what determines whether they are protected or not. The easiest way to tell is if HDHOMERUN sees them as protected. Plex isnt making the determination it is reading the flag. Look at www.myhdhomerun.com then click the channel list. If HDHomerun list them as protected and you still think they aren’t post it on their forums.
I’m using a WinTV Quad card ; it’s a QAM channel but I’m using a roof antenna, so it’s not related to hdhomerun. This channel is OTA free, I’m 100% sure about that.
It worked last year and now it’s broken.
Well well…using this trick solved the problem
