I just ripped Black Butler onto my Plex server, and have them named in a Plex-Friendly format but in Plex it is showing as 2 different series with 3 episodes broken off. In fact Plex only seems to have issues with Anime, usually it is just missing some data, but this is the first time this has happened. I tried matching up the info with the one it has all of the info for to see if it would merge them but so far it has not. Is there an anime-only metadata database I can add that could alleviate the issues with Anime?
Check your files for embedded metadata,
since they are are in mp4/m4v format.
If they are, they could contain internal metadata which can potentially throw off Plex’s scanners.
To avoid such troubles, go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows -TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack active agents.
After making this change, perform the Plex Dance.
And for a perfectly Plex-friendly file name it is missing the hyphen.
