Plex isn't automatically grouping all movies (some, not all) like it used to

Hi,

I’m not sure what’s happening but Plex is no longer automatically merging identical movies into one title. I’ve added a few movies lately that I already have (I originally encoded in a lower quality due to space concerns and re-encoded in a higher res). Some titles are still being grouped but most are not. This makes the library really messy and even more so with the collections being shown in my movies library (some movies now have multiple single versions plus its collection).

Any idea why this is the case? It’s happened across the last couple of server versions (current one listed below). Any idea. How I could fix this? I did a force scan of files multiple times but that’s had no effect. Any info would be amazing. Thanks so much!

If Plex is recognizing them as the same movie but not merging them this implies you might be using a different agent. This can happen if you changed the agent on library level while the already available content has not been re-matched.

Ahhhh, this appears to the issue. I switched to the newer Plex agent as it’s so much better than the old one not realizing this would bork Plex matching any future additions. :frowning: But thanks for saving me on this. At least there’s a reason and I can figure out how I want to fix it.

for future reference… you should have found a dedicated entry in the Manage Library menu of a library using an old/legacy agent to update it… this would have updated all existing references.
