…since latests updates, PMS are not grouping movie duplicates … i.e i have 2 versions of a movie inside the same folder, and the server shows two different movies being the same
It seems you have changed the agent of your library at some point between adding the two movies. As the agent is part of how Plex identifies duplicates, that’s why they won’t be merged automatically.
Doing a full metadata refresh should bring the existing / old matches to the same level. Otherwise you can select both movies and merge them through the context menu.
I rarely lock fields of my media. The few season descriptions I added manually have survived previous changes of the library agent / metadata refreshes just fine. The same goes for local posters or manually changed ones.
thanks a lot for your patience…
finally i´m re-doing a new movies library, and sorting properly folders and filenames.
…i’ve created a new library, manually deleting dups in PMS-web
…i’m planning to use https://github.com/l3uddz/plex_dupefinder to work for the 1080p and 720p movie versions … because i have hundreds of them…too much to do by hand.
