I have been using Plex for ages on my laptop (windows 11) and also my smart TV. About 2 months ago, I couldnt access my server on either so tried to re do it all on Plex media server and I cant seem to open the app on my laptop (it opens up the web version of plex?) there is NO server settings in the Plex app or Plex Media Server web version and now i can’t seem to play any of my downloads through plex.
I just dont understand what i am doing wrong. I tried to make a new account to add a new server in but it doesnt work. I have logged into the plex app today and it shows my laptop server and all my films but it doesn’t show it when I log in on the tv app now either.
again, I have no option for server settings in any settings at all.
I have uninstalled Plex and plex media server several times but nothing seems to be working. Please help!!!
This version number indicates that you are using the right Plex app.
It might look like the Plex Web app, but it’s not running inside of your web browser.
It is also the only app on Windows which has support for downloads.
However, downloads are a Plex Pass feature. You don’t seem to have a Plex Pass on your plex account.
There is a server connected to your plex account, so you should be able to see it.
Ensure that the plex app is using the exact same plex user account that you used to claim your server.
If there is not, try starting Plex Media Server using the standard Windows Start menu.
If the logo is there, bit vanishes when you move your mouse pointer over it, your server might have crashed.
If you cannot find a shortcut to “Plex Media Server” in your Start menu, you might have uninstalled the server and have only the player software “Plex for Windows” installed.
A simple click won’t do anything. Try a double click.
And be sure to have a default web browser set in the Windows preferences. If you don’t have one, use this address http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
Neither your TV, nor your Plex Web app appear to be able to talk to your server. They both only show the default streaming media sources from plex.tv
The most common issue that is causing such a behavior, is when your server is not connected to your plex user account. i.e. it is not “claimed”
However that appears to be alright in your case. I can see a running server in your account.
Are there any web browser add-ins activated, which are designed to block parts of web sites?
Is the network connection in Windows marked as “private”? It must NOT be “public”.
Can you put a custom “DNS server” into the configuration of your router? If you do, try using 8.8.8.8
