Sometime in the past week or two Plex just… stopped working, after being one of the most consistent and bug free things I’ve ever used.
I host on Windows 10, from my home PC. Nothing has changed in my setup, at all- it’s the same as it’s been for years. I have Plex allowed through both Windows Firewall and the exe allowed in Malwarebytes.
The server itself seems fine. I can browse from my PC like normal. I can also play my content on the PC I’m hosting from.
On any other device it’s just stopped working… it seems like it was a slow decline into chaos, but it might have just been a coincidence that we had some issues with the Apple TV app for about a week before this. Now, we get “servername is Currently Unavailable” on all devices. Server is, however, up and running normally confirmed. We’re getting this on: Apple TV, Fire TV, iOS, Windows 10 laptop, OS X laptop. All on the same network. For a while I got my phone to actually load content by disconnecting it from the local network. Now that doesn’t even work.
Things I tried in roughly the order I tried them in (it’s been a long few days):
Restarting Plex Media Server
Restarting hosting PC
Clearing caches on devices
Reinstalling Plex Media Player app on devices
Restarting router
Restarting devices
7a) Repairing Plex Media Server with the uninstall/repair tool
7b) Rolling back Plex Media Server version by uninstalling fully via Windows Uninstall then reinstalling older version from the /Updates folder
Checking UPnP settings in router (they are on)
Checking DNS servers on router (we changed them to Google DNS from our ISP’s)
Disabling security requirement on server (this may have worked briefly?)
Purchasing a static IP from my ISP just in case
Port forwarding to the standard port and reserving my local IP in the router
I’m sure I’m forgetting some stuff. My wife is a network technician and I’m a C# programmer. We’re stumped. Plex seems to have just imploded. Immensely frustrated as it’s really the only service we use for media anymore and we’ve lost all access to it. I’ve been working on this literally all day. If there’s any other info you need to help us please let me know.
Edit: Oh yeah and Remote Access on the server options page goes from green to red after a seemingly random amount of time after pressing “retry”. But it always goes green first.
Looks like you have an invalid CERT on your account. Hopefully a mod will see and reset the back end.
