Plex keeps crashing

I have two Shield Pro 2019 units, one local (primary) & one remote unit (backup), and one of them keeps crashing, both have the same, Sandisk 128gb external memory and a Sandisk 256gb USB drive for Plex (although I don’t see any directory labeled ‘Plex’ on it) and extra storage. And the Plex media is on a network drive on both systems. All three areas are accessible but Plex still seems to crash overnight. The server says ‘stopped’ and it will not restart without restarting the Shield. Also the device slows to a craw until rebooting. This is an ongoing issue and I have tried everything including resetting the Shield and reloading EVERYTHING from scratch again and again. Very frustrated. And for the other Shield, it is so very slow to serve up the thumbnails and even slower to open any content. And none of the drives, including internal memory are close to full.

Not sure if this may be helpful on nas/nvidia/etc. but it works for me under Windows. Appears that when there is an update, and a finish install, the system crashes during a start or playback after update. What I have been doing without loosing or reinstalling everything.

I restart PLEX after the crash, give a minute or 2 and then shut it down, I then wipe out/delete the install folder ONLY (mine is under C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex),
DO NOT DELETE THE FOLDER WITH THE medadata, cache, plugins etc., which mine is under C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server.

I then download the latest update from -> https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/
It asks if you want to repair, click yes. After install, everything is back up and running…until the next update… then its a hit or miss again.

If you do the download and repair without wiping out the install folder, for me it did not work right, i would keep getting the crash issue anyway.

Hope this helps someone.
