PMS keeps crashing on Nvidia Shield (problem for last week)

Hi,

After a bit of help, every morning this week I’ve had to restart the Nvidia Shield as Plex was showing as unreachable via the web/tv app/ios app etc. I installed the update dated 12th March yesterday morning and this hasn’t made any difference, Plex was again showing offline.

I’ve downloaded the Plex Media Server logs if this helps with diagnosis as to what’s going wrong, the log is available here 916.3 KB file on MEGA

PMS dead again this morning, this is what I see via the web interface. I’ve not yet gone to check out the Nvidia Shield but it’s accessible across the network.

I can post the log again if needed but I’d imagine it’s the same issue that’s shown in the log I’ve already posted a link to.

Any help much appreciated.

EDIT: Checked the Nvidia Shield, I no longer see the option on PMS to stop/start the server, has this gone? Restarted the Nvidia Shield and Plex is now back online.

Still crashing, gone off during the day today at some point. Several attempts tonight to get it restarted with no luck, restarted the Shield for the 4th time (checked all cabling to the drives etc.) so let’s see what happens.

Do any Plex staff monitor this forum?

hey man, I’ve been having the same issues and sadly I deleted everything and started from scratch but I’ve found the solution.

Solution:

The problem is the plex app, not the server.
Uninstall the Plex APP updates and downgrade it to the basic version. Then sign in and go in to settings and youl’ll find your server offline there, turn it back online and upgrade the app. don’t touch the PMS app other than to delete your cache

Managed to do this tonight, was a lot less hassle than I thought it would be. Unfortunately it hasn’t fixed it for me, Plex has crashed again this evening although it did still think it was online but it couldn’t play any content.

Error shown is Playback Error - An error occurred loading items into the play queue.

I’m not sure what this error means but I’ve seen it a lot recently, the drive with the content is available and accessible over the network and I can see it on the Shield, for some reason it looks like Plex can’t see it.

I’m about ready to throw the whole thing out of the window, unreachable again this morning. Noticed there was an update, installed that but couldn’t get the server started as no option to do so. Followed the instructions posted above by MessyFlix to downgrade the Plex App so I could restart the server.

Never had so much trouble with it as I’ve had this week. Luckily we are still WFH in the UK, this is going to be a problem when we can leave home, go on holiday etc. if I’m not able to manually restart the server.
