Every few months it seems to do a reset & rediscover files already in the library, which requires me to once again edit any poor matches & remake playlists. I’m frankly ready to just ditch Plex. Went to pull a movie up during the holiday & my playlists are either empty or only have a few entries. I wont bother to rebuild this time. Used to be great but it’s gotten buggy & become a chore. Anyone else notice a decline in quality & escalation in issues?
It sounds like you just came to say goodbye, but if you decide to try it again make sure this item in Library settings is turned off.

I came to see if anyone was having a similar issue. If not then I won’t expect a fix. I had more than a dozen playlists now empty. Again. I’ll just build them in IMDb since it appears it’s pointless to create them or collections in Plex.
There is not a widespread problem with Plex eating peoples’ libraries, if it is happening to you, there is a reason for it within your system, and it can be fixed. The setting that I suggested you check can be part of the problem in some cases.
Clear the above mentioned check box and keep it disabled.
You can restore a database backup from before the incident. This should restore your metadata and playlists.
