Plex keeps scanning, high cpu

Running plex Version 1.18.3.2156 on linux 10 buster (4.19.0-6-amd64 GNU/Linux)

I started a new scan of my music library.
My music library is defined as:
/media/mediaserver/media/MUZIEK/collectie

where the folder:
/media/mediaserver/media

is a mount to a network drive:
//mediaserver/media /media/mediaserver/media cifs rw,relatime,vers=3.0,cache=strict,username=svc.deb17,uid=1000,forceuid,gid=1000,forcegid,addr=192.168.4.13,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,soft,nounix,mapposix,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,echo_interval=60,actimeo=1 0 0

Now I noticed:

top:

  • the NAS and network are not busy at all.

What is happening here?
A bug in plex?

kind regards,
Bart

I’m on a Mac so this might be different, but I found that when Spotlight indexed files it triggered Plex to rescan so I had 2 options:

  • stop Spotlight scanning my Plex media folders
  • uncheck “scan my library automatically”
