There is no reason why I should have to delete my entire library and recreate it, just to add theme music back. What’s the deal with this app? Why is that the most suggested solution?
FYI, recreating it worked. I didn’t add anything, I didn’t rename anything, it just worked. Terrible app.
It probably worked because it used the default agent after the recreation, which does support theme music. You previously may have set a different agent.
Nope, same agent. In fact, about a third of my shows had theme music before the recreate. The issue was likely that some of them were added to the library before I added the theme music and cleaned up the folder structure. Plex handled the other bits of metadata being updated perfectly, but evidently can’t handle it for theme music. Every new show since the directory updates worked fine.
I had tried adding and removing individual shows a few times, but it never fixed the issue. Only a full blow away of the DB and recreate fixed the issue… which is broken.
It seems like this is kind of known thing: The Plex Dance ™
My beef is that we have to do something like this workaround. In no other application that I’ve worked with is there a need to blow away the entire DB just to update things. That’s not a great solution, even if it works.
