Plex Library Scan Issues - Films Keep Disappearing

Server Version#: 1.40.5.8897
Player Version#: 4.136.0

I’m encountering an ongoing issue with Plex where at times when I scan my library, most of my films disappear. I then have to repeatedly rescan until they eventually reappear in the library. This mostly occurs when I add or delete a film on my drive before scanning my library to push the change. My film collection is about 14TB in size. I’m using a 2022 Mac Studio and recently upgraded to a Yottamaster Y-Focus 4 Bay External Hard Drive Enclosure, currently using one bay with a Seagate ST16000NM000J Exos SATA 16TB Internal Hard Drive. I’ve installed Amphetamine to keep my drive awake and enabled Drive Alive. I also have ‘Automatically empty the trash’ disabled in my Plex settings.

I didn’t experience this problem before the upgrade when I was using two WD My Passport drives with my 2022 Mac Studio.

I’m not sure if the new setup is causing the problem, but I thought it might be relevant to mention. Additionally, I pay for a Public IP through my internet provider to ensure Plex remote access works smoothly. Could this be related, or is there something else I should check?

Disable automatically emptying trash on library scan

Hi, thank you for your reply. I’ve currently got this set as disabled, but I’m still experiencing issues with the films having the red bin icon.

That would be because for some reason plex is unable to access the media for some reason

Provide some server logs, it should hopefully have some indication of what’s going on.
