Trying to figure out why Plex will record a show on the DVR but then once its saved it will pull down the wrong info for the show.
Example I record an episode of 20/20 that is about JonBenet Ramsey, the show into in the EPG is right, the show is saved with the right name etc but then Plex after its saved will mark the episode as being about a totally different subject and episode?
Happens all the time and is very frustrating.
Please let me know if I am doing something wrong or is there a way to keep what is shown in the EPG which is right?
Depending on which metadata agent is set in the properties of the library, Plex will try to find a match for the recorded file using this agent.
TheTVDB is the default for “episodic” content and it usually works.
However, there is sometimes tv content which don’t get a match on TheTVDB.
There is only one way: put the recordings into a library which uses the ‘Personal Media’ agent as default instead.
Beware: changing an existing library to use ‘Personal Media’ can lead to loss of posters and other metadata, if the items were not “matched” previously.
Yeah that’s that seems to be the issue. Episode listings in the EPG and those listed in TVDB are different and you end up with the shows listed wrong after they are recorded and saved then scanned.
