Can Plex be forced to use the EPG data vs. TVDB?

Several shows I record have differing metadata from the EPG/Network vs. what TVDB thinks. Ex: Last night’s SNL. NBC listed it as Episode 6, TVDB lists it as Episode 4, which caused it to be incorrectly named in my library when I was looking for the recording this morning.

Lots of people ask the same:

I don’t believe there has been a response from plex on this.

Huh. Well then. I tried googling for an answer and I didn’t see any of those topics. Wow.

Perhaps @kinoCharlino could help?

Perhaps I can?! I experienced the same thing with SNL as described in the OP. I also noticed incorrect naming for the Halloween clip-show special of SNL and the animated special with Tom Hanks that came on right before it. My 3 year old really liked that one! She watched it twice that evening.

In the DVR settings you’ll find an option to enable Enhanced Program Guide. It uses TVDB when that feature is enabled. Try turning it off, as then it should use EPG.

@kinoCharlino – Thanks! I’ll check this when I get home. Sadly, while I can log into Plex, and see the forums, I can’t actually connect to my server from my work network.

Understood about the enhanced program guide…once you move the metata away from gracenote there seems to be no way to get it back other than rerecord all the episodes…any help on this?
