I haven’t found a way to force transcode and keep the same resolution.
Another way to watch something is to record it and watch the recording. It doesn’t crash. You can watch recordings in progress. It’s a work around when watching a game or something like that.
I notice that I am unable to pause more than 5 or so minutes as well without it pushing me back to the grid. This is happening with direct play on an Apple TV 4K, hdhomerun Quattro connect and plex server 1.18.3.2157 running on QNap.
After unpausing, it plays for about 1 minute then pushes me back to the grid guide. If I pause for only a few minutes, this doesn’t appear to be an issue. Using the enhanced video player with direct play.
