Tuner Make/Model: HD Homerun Prime
Hi,
I am trying to see if I can setup “Multi Viewing” for Plex Live TV. I have seen other post that if users are watching the same channel it only uses 1 tuner. From my testing that is not the case on my server. Does anyone know what settings I need to try and make this work? I am currently running Plex on my unRAID server.
I just tested it on the latest release and when I view the same channel on 2 different devices, it uses 2 tuners. I can’t find any documentation on how to enable multi viewing or if there are some limitations to it.
This is automatic, it automatically Channel duplicates. Not sure why it wouldn’t Channel duplicate. I haven’t seen that before and I have many devices that pull up one channel at a time especially when there’s a football game or something the whole family wants to watch.
I did some further testing and Plex shows 2 tuners in use when 2 different devices are watching the same channel, however my HDHR (4 tuner) shows only 1 tuner in use.
Is the Plex GUI wrong when it shows 2 tuners in use or is the HDHR re-streaming to the Plex?
OK, so netstat shows only 1 established connection to the HDHR, so it does appear that Plex is doing what it should.
The only question that remains is why does the Plex GUI show 2 tuners in use and will this stop me from using all 4 HDHR tuners in Plex if it thinks it’s using more than it really is?
I’ll have to test it in the morning and see. But the revamped back-end live TV is a little goofy, so it’s probably just a visual error more than anything else… hopefully.
That was a good find, its a problem with the gui. I’ll tag someone in here that can send it to the proper person for them to be aware of the issue so they can get it fixed. Even if it shows it’s using multiple tuners in the Plex app it’s only using one tuner and doesn’t affect the amount of tuners you can use . Thanks! @DaveBinM
When two users are watching the same channel then only one tuner is in use. I’m pretty sure in the DVR settings it will show as two tuners being used but this is not the case and is an error.
