Plex loses Shared Library associations every reboot

@OttoKerner
Restarted, no change.

Logs attached.

Is it possible that you are running PMS in a tightened security environment?
Is the server “headless” and are you accessing it only per remote desktop?

In this case: There is currently another issue which interrupts operation of Plex.
If you are running Plex on a headless “server” device, run it as system service.

@OttoKerner
Yep, headless.

So I set it up to run as a service, restarted, same issue.
Booted, and all shares were not present, libraries were not available.
Restarted the service itself (without restarting the machine), everything came up.

Restarted the machine, same issue (shares lost, no libraries available).
Restarted the service, everything came up.

Logs attached from after the reboot (with no shares available).

So freaking weird…

I have a hunch this has to do with Windows not being completely ready when Plex is starting up.

Services under Windows can be started ‘delayed’
please change the start parameter of the Plex service

Okay, got a little further that time.
Story time:
Added the delayed start, edited the delay to be 3 minutes after everything else boots.
Rebooted, Plex started immediately.
Found a scheduled task booting plex at startup
Disabled that
Rebooted
Plex delayed starting correctly.
Libraries all appeared correctly this time.
Sharing issue still exists (though I DID find that this only occurs if I am not sharing ALL libraries with a user, only when I am limiting to a selection of all libraries).

Odd new semi-repeatable issue:
After starting up, attempted playback and would just get the spinning wheel for all of eternity.
Restarting Plex service would not resolve.
Restarting server resolved, however after a few reboots this re-occurs (I can open a different thread if we’d like to keep these issues separate).

Attached logs from the post-reboot where libraries were present/shares not available (and playback not working)

You should remove/disable the
Plex Request channel and the
Spotify 2 channel
temporarily to rule out any influences from these 3rd party plugins.

(Side note: Plex2CSV has been superseded by ExportTools)

Have you configured the Internet Explorer on your server to loosen the security?
I am not saying it has to do with the issue but it might contribute. Even if you are not using IE.

Is this a transferred database from a linux-based server?
Remove the references to the old media locations from your library definitions
these paths cannot be resolved on Windows:

/mnt/media/4 Movies
/mnt/media/8 Outdoors (Shows_Movies)/Outdoorsy Movies
/mnt/media/5 TV Shows

etc.

apart from the above I am almost at the end of my wit.

Okay, Ill remove all channels (Wasn’t using those anyways)

Yes, IE security has been disabled (had an issue running something else a few weeks ago which required that).

Wasn’t transfered from linux (but I was toying around with the idea of moving to a linux VM a few months ago so had pro-actively entered the paths).

You and I are both at our wits end, haha.

If this doesn’t fix it I may just back up the plex folder and nuke the thing…start “fresh”.

Still completely messed up, and now wasn’t even startinng playback of media no matter what I did to it.

Nerfed the whole thing and am running it on linux now with zero issues. Hopefully that holds true.

Thanks for all your help!

At the top of the Linux forum is the Linux Tips section. A lot of supplemental information there
