Plex main account can't see my server but all other managed accounts can. Will paypal $$$

Plex main account can’t see my media/server but all other managed accounts can. I used to be able to see the server aka folders and my media etc. in my main account but it is gone. Plex media server does not even show up.

However, if I launch the app from the computer with the plex server under the main account the media/folders shows up just like before. When I log in remotely nothing shows up.

When I make a new account it can’t see my media and folder. However the previous accounts can see the media. So the only way for me to stream my media remotely is to go into a managed account and not the main account. It does the same on my phone using the plex app under the main account nothing, switch user and everything is there.

Very odd…any help would be appreciated and I’ll paypal you some $$$ for fixing this for me.

Same behaviour here. Hitting my head against a wall at the moment. I’ve even tried setting up a new server just to see if my DB was not corrupted or something but I’ll always endup with 401 during server setup. Something wrong happened recently it seems.

Is the main account the server owner account?

Yes. Main account is server account. Always worked fine before.

When I launch PLEX from the server by clicking on the icon, the PLEX webpage opens up under the main account and I can see server and all folders etc. like normal.

When I launch PLEX from the app or goto the PLEX website(from the server computer’s browser or another computer) the main account cannot see the server AT ALL. I can see my buddies PLEX server, but not mine.

The ONLY thing I changed was I added in a new HD and moved one folder to it and told plex where to see it. Plex sees the new folder on the new HD when I am not in the main account.

The only work around is using another account I have set up. I tried making a new account but it also can’t see the server. Only my ‘spare’ account I just happened to make can see the server. When I use PLEX from a Roku device it does the same thing. Main account can’t see my server, but I switch to the ‘other’ account, not main and I can see the server.

Very odd.

I am lucky I made the other account but something is fundamentally wrong. If I were to ever delete that account or make a change I am worried I would have ZERO access to my media server remotely which is why I use PLEX in the 1st place. I travel a ton for work and like to stream my media in my hotel room. I feel like I am one step from PLEX not working at all except locally which…who cares.

Again, I’ll throw someone some $$$ via paypal if they can fix this for me. My guess is this is a PLEX issue and not a configuration issue as I didn’t change a thing other than pointing 1 folder to a new HD I installed.

I followed your steps. This is what I ended up with:

I click the grey ‘claim server’ and it takes a while and then does not work and I can click claim server again and again and it does not work.

I closed the browser window and now I can’t log in via the plex program on my computer. It just shows the PLEX logo and the icon spins forever. I can log in if I goto the website but can’t see any media.

How do I claim my server? The button is not working. my PLEX is 100% not working now.

I restarted my computer, now when I click claim server:

It let me claim the server. However, when I go online through the browser or phone app same old problem:

app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “Office Desktop” securely

Its “Secure connections” setting may be set to disabled, or you may need to adjust some settings on your network. You can learn more about secure connections here.

Can’t see server via app or online. None of my accounts can see the server via the browser window.

OK! I fixed it.

I accidently clicked a plex link and chrome opened up plex on the wrong chrome window. I have multiple chrome windows for multiple gmail accounts on one PC. I accidently logged in and made a new plex account for my work email address. I went to that chrome window, logged in to my work plex account which was just created. Deleted the account. Now everything works and it back to normal.

So, all my fault. The fix in my case was two plex accounts on one server and I had to delete one of them which was the account I made in error. I thought I was on my personal chrome window not my work. I have to have 3 Gmail accounts to do my job. personal and 2 for work all use Gmail. Which is how that all started.

So fixed! Hopefully this helps someone else!

If this is not clear just ask me and I will explain a different way.
