Plex Media Player asks preferred server then won't stop loading

I am using the Plex Media Player on my Win11 PC and whenever I boot up the program it takes me to the home page then “flickers” and tells me I need to choose a preferred server. I have an old one I don’t use which I have removed, a friends, and my main server (Intel NUC). I cannot change the selection on the screen and can only press continue, which makes the player enter an infinite loading screen.

It works on both my and my girlfriend’s phone, her PC, her Macbook and my PC browser (Brave) with no issue. I am only experiencing this on the Media Player.

Are you using the „Plex for Windows“ desktop app of the super-outdated / discontinued „Plex Media Player“ (last updated in 2022?

Hi! Freshly installed Plex for Windows

Went to check to see if had decided my server choice was acceptable, and it is still stuck on a loading screen.

There is still a seemingly decommissioned server in your account.

Does it work with the plex web app on the same machine?

Is there something unusual regarding monitors? Are there several monitors connected, probably with differing sizes/resolutions?
Which type of GPU is in the machine?

There is also a high likelyhood that your issue is connected with secure server connections. (Or rather the lack thereof.)
See if you can coerce your router into supporting them even within the local network: https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections#toc-4

Ty for the response
Removed the decom’d server.

2 Monitors - both running at recommended resolution of 2560x1440. Nothing unusual with either that I can think of.
Nvidia RTX 3080

Gonna read/try out link and report back.

Something I forgot to mention: when I am prompted to select a preferred server, the one I currently use is shown as “connecting” and the other options are unavailable.

Yes, likely this relates to the second part of my response above.
