When trying to play a video (remote) using Plex Media Player for Mac, I have set the Internet Streaming Quality to 4 Mbps. When the video starts playing (original video is 1080p), the quality is set to Convert (maximum). I want to select a lower quality but no other quality options pop up in the Playback Settings list.
After messing with settings, I could limit the upload bandwidth so the player does not Convert (maximum) for a remote connection over the internet but I am curious as to why the media player settings within the application do not allow me to transcode to a lower bitrate. If I use the Web Player Player with Chrome and click on “Show All” in the quality options, nothing pops up. Perhaps I am missing a setting that needs to be set correctly?
