Plex Media Player not playing MPEG1/2 Movies

MPEG-1/2 (mpgv) encoded movies no longer play correctly. When the movie is selected, the Shield Plex Player shows a green screen and then either restarts or shows the movie after a short delay. The vast majority of the start-ups result in a player restart. These movies used to play correctly.

The MPEG-1/2 movies continue to play correctly on Plex Windows PCs.

Other movies (MPEG-4 P2, H.264, H.265, etc.) continue to play correctly on the Shield Media Player

TV shows, in a different library, using MPEG-1/2 (mpgv) coding continue to play correctly.

Am I missing a configuration setting?

Given the version number and reference to Shield TV… I take it you’re experiencing this in the Plex for Android TV client – not the legacy desktop player “Plex Media Player”?

Yes, the problem appears to be with the Plex Media Player for Android on the Nvidia Shield platform. The Windows Plex Media Player works correctly.

Have confirmed the same problem exists with the Android player on Amazon Firestick and Samsung phones.

Attached is the log from the Plex Player on the Nvidia Shield. The movies that failed are The Sound of Music and The Right Stuff.

The issue went away after loading Version 8.28.0 of the Android Player.
