Plex Media Player on Intel NUC (Ubuntu 19) won't play when passthrough enabled

player (for Ubuntu) Downloaded from: GitHub - knapsu/plex-media-player-appimage: Linux AppImage packages for Plex Media Player application.
Equipment Connection: NUC → Onkyo 686 → LG B6 OLED (all using HDMI 2.1 cables)

I have used this forum post to install plex media player directly on my NUC in order to play some audio codecs that my TV can’t pass through (Atmos, TrueHD).

I have everything set up and can see passthrough for all the audio codecs that show up as my received supports them all.

Only AC3 files will play, none of the TrueHD files. If I enable passthrough then not even the AC3 files play.

I can see from the server that the files are ‘playing’ and are direct playing but even here it does not show the thumbnail preview changing.

So it must be something to do with the audio setup on Ubuntu on my NUC.

Does someone have experience with this?
I can’t seem to find the right answers anywhere.
